Faith is active in love. Love calls for justice in society. Gethsemane Lutheran Church is committed to providing prayer and support not only for the members of our congregation, but for the larger community. Our church is partnered with the following organizations:
Alcoholics Anonymous, or A.A., is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. Each Wednesday at 7:30PM, Gethsemane opens our doors to those seeking to overcome addiction to alcohol in a safe, welcoming, anonymous environment.
Crop Hunger Walk
CROP Hunger Walks are community-wide events sponsored by Church World Service and organized by local congregations or groups to raise funds to end hunger at home and around the world. Each October, members of our congregation participate in the five mile Red Bank CROP Walk.
This event is set for Sunday, October 20, 2013.
Keyport Ministerium Food Pantry
The Keyport Ministerium Food Pantry is a non-profit organization providing food assistance and additional services for low-income families and senior citizens requiring ongoing or temporary assistance in the northern Bayshore area of Monmouth County. For decades, Gethsemane has supported the Keyport Food Pantry. Pastor Thiringer serves as President of the Board of Trustees.
Lutheran Disaster Response
Lutheran Disaster Response (LDR) is a ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, our churchwide synod. LDR demonstrates Christ's compassion for all people by promoting hope, healing, and wholeness to disaster survivors. Gethsemane supports this effort both financially and through the volunteer service of individual members. Presently, LDR is working in our area to provide assistance in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
